Similar to the recent storm swept through the northern region the prior day, Manchester City overwhelmed the visitors away at the Etihad. It was a emphatic three-nil triumph for Andrée Jeglertz’s side owing to goals from Knaak, Shaw and Lauren Hemp. It was a result that truly announced their title credentials as they consolidated their place at the WSL pinnacle.

Back-to-Back Defeats for United

Dominant First Half

Second Half

The clearest adjustment came from the United manager at the interval as Malard was introduced for Terland but by this time it was too late to shift the momentum of the contest. Former City player Park came most likely to score, hitting the post, but the visitors were offensively poor and were unable to record a solitary shot on goal.

The home side, in contrast, could have extended their cushion when a superb Miedema long ball sent Shaw away only for her to miss the chance but it mattered little to the winning team. After failing to beat any opponent who finished above them in the prior term, City's side now have victories against Arsenal and United to put them in a commanding situation after nine matches.
